
Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics published this evening (Tuesday) indicate that the consumer price index increased by 0.71% in August 2026 compared to July 2026, and inflation remained at 1.51%.
This is contrary to previous estimates that it would surge.
Notable price increases were recorded this month in the prices of fresh vegetables, which rose by 2.9%, in transportation prices, which rose by 2.7%, in prices in the field of culture and entertainment, which rose by 2.0%, and in housing prices, which rose by 0.6%.
Notable price declines were recorded in fresh fruit prices, which fell by 2%, clothing prices, which fell by 0.8%, food prices, which fell by 0.5%, and furniture and home equipment prices, which fell by 0.3%.
Rent for tenants who renewed their lease increased by 2.61% and for new tenants, an increase of 4.41% was recorded.
The housing price index published by the Central Bureau of Statistics shows that housing prices increased by 0.21% in June-July compared to May-June.
Divided by districts, prices increased: in Tel Aviv by 0.7%, in the center by 0.3%, in the south by 0.1%, and decreased: in the north by 0.1%, in Haifa by 0.3%, and in Jerusalem by 0.4%.
Compared to June-July last year, apartment prices decreased by 1.21% in most districts (Center, Haifa, Tel Aviv and South).
