
Just before the start of Rosh Hashanah 2017: Shopping centers, food chains, and stores across the country were filled with tens of thousands of Israelis completing the final preparations for the holiday.
Data from Sheba, which manages the national debit card payment system, indicates a further increase in public spending compared to last year.
Between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m., Israelis spent more than 459 million shekels on credit cards - an increase of 2.7 percent compared to Rosh Hashanah Eve last year, when spending amounted to about 446.8 million shekels.
The peak hour was recorded near noon. At 10:56, more than 18,000 transactions were processed at the box office in just one minute, with a financial volume of over 3.44 million shekels.
Even compared to previous years, there is a consistent upward trend.
On Rosh Hashanah Eve 1975, spending during the same hours amounted to approximately 422.9 million shekels, while on Rosh Hashanah Eve 1974, before the outbreak of the 'Iron Swords' War, the volume of purchases amounted to only approximately 378.4 million shekels.
