Tens of thousands of Breslov Hasidim and multitudes of the Beit Yisrael people participated on the eve of Rosh Hashanah 5777 in the global 'General Tikun' ceremony, which took place in the streets near the holy memorial of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in the city of Uman, Ukraine.
Behind the scenes of the massive prayer gathering, which is estimated to have broken records with tens of thousands from all over the world, a strict security system operated.
The chairman of the Breslav Union in Uman, Rabbi Nathan Ben Nun, was present at the central headquarters during the event and was in real-time command of ensuring the safety of the hundreds.
In the central police station, live footage from dozens of closed-circuit cameras is displayed on a giant screen, covering the entire Zion area and its surroundings. Rabbi Ben Nun was joined at the police station by senior representatives from the emergency and security forces, including Oz Avizov, director of the Resilience Division at the ZAKA organization.
The joint forces monitored the crowd's pressure and prepared in advance to provide a rapid response to any emergency scenario, God forbid.
With the successful conclusion of the prayer service, Rabbi Nathan Ben Nun addressed the unprecedented preparations in light of the large numbers: "We are concluding with satisfaction the event of the General Correction, which was the most massive since before the Corona pandemic. We are now preparing for the days of Rosh Hashanah, when tens of thousands of people are expected to be in Uman. This year, over 60,000 people arrived in Uman from all over the world.".
Rabbi Ben Nun concluded with a prayer for the continuation of the days of the Breslov Hasidim's "kibbutz": "With the hope and prayer that the Rosh Hashana kibbutz will end peacefully and without any unusual incidents.".
