Among other things, it was decided to close the British consulate in East Jerusalem, which has been operating since the 19th century, expel British representatives from the international headquarters in Kiryat Gat, and stop British assistance for training Palestinian Authority forces.
The Foreign Ministry also decided to prevent the entry into Israel of 12 British elected officials and citizens who are involved in anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli activity and who deny the very existence of the State of Israel.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar reacted angrily to the British decision: "The Labor Party's move is especially absurd in light of the British government's Balfour Declaration, which officially recognized the right of the Jewish people to establish the State of Israel in the Land of Israel, including Judea and Samaria.".
He emphasized that this is a "blatant and unacceptable attempt by a foreign government to influence an election period.".
Sa'ar added: "We did not return to our land after 2,000 years to lose it to Islamist jihadists. The Palestinians will also be directly affected by your marches.".
The Foreign Minister emphasized: "This conflict will not be resolved by declarations from London and Paris. The unilateral approach against Israel only further distances the solution. The latest decision by the Labor government joins other unilateral steps adopted by the hostile Labor government since it took office.".
Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir responded: "I congratulate the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister who accepted my demand and closed the British Consulate in Jerusalem. There is room for national pride in the face of hypocritical anti-Semitic governments operating within Jerusalem.".
