The Registry of Nonprofits at the Ministry of Justice has in recent days deleted 788 nonprofits from the registry of nonprofits that did not submit reports on their activities as required by law, including financial reports, verbal reports, audit committee recommendations, and more.
The deletion was carried out at the end of a lengthy process, during which several notifications were sent to the associations and they were given opportunities to regularize their reports.
The Nonprofit Organizations Law requires nonprofit organizations to submit annual reports on their activities, including a financial report, a verbal report, a report on the five highest-paid employees, and a report on donations from a foreign political entity, to the extent relevant.
The reporting obligation is intended to ensure transparency and enable the public, donors, and entities that interact with nonprofits to receive up-to-date and reliable information about their activities.
At the beginning of the supervision of non-reporting associations, 835 associations were included that did not meet their reporting obligations. Following the warnings and the announcement published in Reshumot in March 2026 regarding the intention to delete them from the association register, 47 associations regularized their reports and completed the required work.
The 788 associations that did not do so were deleted from the association register, after it was verified that they did not hold assets.
In August, a "Final Notice Regarding Deletion from the Registry of Associations" was published in the Publications Bulletin. As of the date of deletion, the association ceased to be a legal entity and is no longer permitted to perform legal actions of any kind. Accordingly, its officers and authorized signatories are no longer authorized to act on its behalf or make use of its assets, and the association's bank accounts will be blocked from activity.
This is the fourth round of deletions carried out by the Registry of Nonprofits, as part of its ongoing activities to ensure that nonprofits comply with their reporting obligations and maintain an updated and reliable register of nonprofits. In total, approximately 8,000 nonprofits were deleted that did not submit annual reports and did not meet the audit, that the nonprofit does indeed use its funds to advance its goals, and are not used for other purposes or for the distribution of prohibited profits.
Attorney Shuli Avni-Shoham, Registrar of Nonprofits and Head of the Corporations Authority: "Nonprofits enjoy the trust of the public and often operate using donations and public funds. At the same time, they have the obligation to act transparently and report on their activities as required by law so that it can be ensured that the funds are used to advance the approved legal goals.
""Deletion is a means of ensuring that non-profit organizations comply with their reporting obligations and use funds raised to advance their legal and approved purposes only and not for any other purpose or for the distribution of prohibited profits. Also, deleting non-reporting non-profit organizations from the register means that the non-profit organization register will be reliable and up-to-date.".
""We will continue to work to increase compliance, strengthen transparency, and ensure the public's ability to receive reliable information about the nonprofits operating in Israel, so that the public can continue to donate to nonprofits that fulfill their goals.""
