Tragedy in Efrat: An 84-year-old man fell from a height while building a sukkah on the balcony of his home and was killed

An 84-year-old man was killed today (Sunday), around 1:40 PM, after falling from a height while building a sukkah on the balcony of his home on Matityahu Street in the HaZayit neighborhood in Efrat.

Rescue forces called to the scene were forced to declare him dead at the scene.

ZAKA volunteers from the Shi'ite District of Gush Etzion, including teams from Efrat and Beitar Illit, arrived at the scene and took care of the honor of the deceased and collected the findings at the scene.

After the volunteers' activities at the scene, the deceased was released for burial. ZAKA noted that the release was made possible following the organization's activities at the scene.

Eyal Ahrenshtam, commander of the Gush Etzion area at ZAKA, Yossi Holtzman, deputy commander of the area, and Shlomo Ben Dahan, a volunteer from the Efrat team, said: "This is a serious incident. The deceased fell from a height when he came to build a sukkah on the balcony of his house. MDA teams were forced to confirm his death at the scene. Together with other volunteers, we worked at the scene to treat the deceased with dignity and collect the remains.".
