An Israeli citizen was charged today (Friday) with security offenses.

Most of the circumstances of the indictment are prohibited from being published.

The paraphrase that was allowed for publication stated: "An Israeli citizen was arrested for questioning by the Shin Bet and police on suspicion of security offenses. During his interrogation, it emerged that the defendant was activated by foreign intelligence elements and that he was involved in foreign influence activities.".

The statement also said: "Upon completion of his investigation, an indictment was filed against him and a request for his detention until the end of the proceedings for security offenses attributed to him in light of his operation by foreign intelligence agencies against the State of Israel.".

Despite the publication ban in Israel, many details surrounding the affair, which reportedly began with the arrest at Ben Gurion Airport about a month ago, have already been published in a number of media outlets around the world.
