MK Karin Elharar announced today (Thursday) that she will not run on the Yesh Atid list in the next Knesset.

The former minister's retirement comes 14 years after she was added to the list of Yesh Atid founders. This means that all of Yesh Atid's founders in 2013 are no longer in politics, except for Yair Lapid.

Elharar, 48, wrote to Yesh Atid members:

""Dear friends and partners, yes yes, it's also my turn to make a dramatic announcement.".

14 years ago, Yair Lapid added me to the list of founders of Yesh Atid and opened a door for me to the exciting world of politics, and for that I will always be grateful. Yair was and still is a friend and partner, a true leader who sees people at eye level and who always has the best interests of the country before his eyes.

I was a co-founder of the best center party there is. And over the years, I was in the coalition and in the opposition, I served as the chairman of committees in the Knesset, as Minister of Energy, and I was a partner in national and international movements. I promoted significant legislation for children and young people at risk, to promote women's rights. I met and collaborated with friends who are truly the best and are committed to changing and repairing the country.

After all the achievements I have accumulated, I have decided, after consulting with my family, to move on to a new challenge, and therefore I will not run for the Yesh Atid list for the next Knesset.

I am staying in Yesh Atid because Yesh Atid is my party and political home, and you will meet me again in the election campaign, where I will contribute and fight with you. So first of all, thank you to all the people I met along the way, to the excellent MKs, to the headquarters of our magnificent territory, to the activists who never tire, and to everyone who was a part of the journey.

"It's over, but we won't be finished. Go, give your all and we'll win the most important elections there is and bring about the amendment. The citizens of the country trust you.".
