The US military attacked Iranian targets in the port city of Sirik, Bandar Abbas, the city of Chabahar, and the island of Qasem this evening (Tuesday). All of the targets attacked are in the Strait of Hormuz area.

US President Donald Trump commented on the attack and warned Iran against retaliation. "We have now attacked Iranian targets near Hormuz. If Iran responds, it will be attacked again with much greater force. But this will not be the biggest attack either. This one is still waiting at the door, and when it is over, very little will remain of the Islamic Republic of Iran.".

The US Central Command issued a statement that read: "Today at 12:00 PM Eastern Time, US forces began attacking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in Iran. The attacks come after recent attempted attacks by the Revolutionary Guard Corps against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and against US service members deployed to the region.".

The Revolutionary Guards spokesman added: "The United States will regret its new attacks.".
