Baruch Dayan, the truth teller: Rabbi Pesach Kryshevsky, known as the "Jerusalem Fiddler," passed away in Jerusalem tonight (Friday night) at the age of 90. He was known as the "Jerusalem Fiddler," as he served as a drummer at Jerusalem celebrations and weddings for decades.
When he reached his peak, he married his wife, Mrs. Chaya Bracha Kriszowski, daughter of the late Rabbi Chaim Rubinfein, who passed away in 1971.
Rabbi Pesach, the late, survived 10 years ago in the wave of terror of 5776, when on the morning of Tuesday, Tishrei, while he was standing at the bus stop on Malkei Yisrael Street in the Geula neighborhood of Jerusalem, next to his cousin, Rabbi Yeshayahu Akiva Kryszewski, a terrorist who sped to the station in his car ran over the two with force, and then got out armed with a butcher knife and brutally attacked them. The cousin was murdered on the spot, while Rabbi Pesach was seriously injured and was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem in critical condition.
Against all odds, Rabbi Pesach survived the severe injuries, recovered, and rehabilitated. Upon his release from the hospital, Rabbi Pesach returned to the scene of the attack on Malkei Yisrael Street, accompanied by his family and acquaintances, and excitedly blessed "that a miracle had been performed for me in this place.".
He has continued since then to make brides and grooms happy and to dance in the joys of his descendants.
He was connected to the Gabbat of the 'Urdu Congregation', the author of 'Minchat Yitzhak' zt"l, who served as his Gabbau. He was also close to the Gabbat of the 'Sha'arei Tuvia' zt"l, and every week he visited his home in the Gush 80 neighborhood in Jerusalem.
During his lifetime, he was survived by his daughter, Mrs. Hava Saarl Yehudit Stern, wife of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Stern, one of the most prominent rabbis of the Hamadimi community, and his son, the late Rabbi Chaim Shalom Kryshevsky of the Hasidim of Rachmastrivoka.
He left behind righteous and blessed generations, sons and daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who continue in his pure path of Torah and Hasidism.
