Attorney Gali Baharav Mayara opposes the participation of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in an event honoring volunteers from the police's emergency response squads.

In the instructions for the elections that she sent to government ministers about a month ago, Bahar Meyara noted that any event held with funding from a government ministry should be examined on its own merits, and not in a blanket manner.

Meanwhile, on the 19th of the month, a petition was filed that was deleted against the event, but the advisor knew about it and, in an unprecedented manner, the next day and five days before the recognition event, in which Minister Ben Gvir is also expected to participate, she sent an update to the guidelines document - with one of the changes concerning the event being held by the police.

"The holding of the event and the minister's participation in it are two distinct issues that require independent and separate examination (in accordance with the auxiliary tests), as the event itself may be legitimate, but the minister's participation in it is not justified under the circumstances and could - in itself - amount to propaganda," she wrote.

In Rabbi Meyara emphasized that even words of congratulations from ministers, which were permitted by the directive until last Thursday, are suddenly prohibited: "Who are the speakers at the event - to what extent does it constitute a platform for the minister or other politicians who are up for election?".

The event to honor the volunteers of the police readiness classes, which will be held at the Menorah Hall in Tel Aviv, will feature performances by singers Moshe Peretz and Ibri Lider.

Following media reports, on Saturday night a petition was submitted to the Chairman of the Knesset Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, to ban Minister Ben-Gvir from participating in the event.

In light of Rabbi Miara's position, Judge Solberg is expected to make a decision this evening.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir: "There is no limit to the trolling of the fired minister. At first she tried to fire me, then she tried to prevent me from establishing about 1,000 alert classes, and now, when there is a ceremony to honor those alert classes that we established, she suddenly changes the guidelines, changes the rules, and states that the minister is not allowed to speak, is not allowed to attend. Gali Bahar-Miara, won't you stop trying to shut us up?""
