Attorney Gali Baharav-Miara this morning (Wednesday) supports postponing the decision on establishing a state investigation committee into the failures of October 7 until after the elections and the formation of the next government,

This is evident from a response she submitted to the High Court of Justice.

In response to petitions to the High Court demanding that the government be ordered to establish a state commission of inquiry, the government last month asked the Supreme Court judges not to intervene in the matter of the commission of inquiry.

In her response, Bahar Meyara claims that a state commission of inquiry should have been established for the October 7 massacre. According to her, the passage of time during which one was not established harms the investigation of the truth and has created evidentiary damage.

However, she added that due to the circumstances for which an election period has not yet been established and in light of the rules, it would be appropriate to decide on the issue after the next government is formed.

About a month and a half ago, the Knesset approved the bill to establish a commission of inquiry in its first reading. The bill seeks to create an alternative mechanism to a state commission of inquiry. 59 Knesset members voted in favor of the bill, and there were no opponents due to a boycott imposed by the opposition on the vote.
