The Central Elections Committee concludes the registration period for the position of secretary and secretary of the polling committees with an especially high response from the public: Approximately 195,000 candidates began the registration process for the position in the last 10 days since registration opened - thus setting a record since the establishment of the digital registration system.
For comparison, in the elections for the 25th Knesset, approximately 100,000 Israelis completed the process, so in the elections for the 26th Knesset, there are double the number of registered voters.
It should be noted that not only is the number of registrants high - but so is the average score of those who passed the initial test.
The Elections Committee emphasizes that completing registration does not guarantee acceptance into the position.
The process of screening and sorting the many applicants begins today, and only candidates who meet the required conditions and screening stages will be able to take office on Election Day.
Only about 35,000 Israelis are expected to be accepted for the position, who will undergo a screening interview and an additional test after frontal training.
The secretaries of the polling committees play a central role in the proper management of Election Day. They are responsible, among other things, for the work of the polling committee in accordance with the provisions of the law and the guidelines of the Central Elections Committee, for managing the voting process, and for performing the tasks required upon the conclusion of voting.
This Wednesday, the registration system will open for the position of Election Integrity Inspector, a position designed to ensure full transparency and prevent fraud.
Recruitment of 14,000 inspectors with a rewarding salary is expected.
