Avishai Levy, a well-known Jerusalem poet and singer, was killed on Friday, at the age of 46, in a tragic accident in Jerusalem after being crushed by his vehicle that rolled backward.
Rescue forces fought for his life, but at the hospital, doctors were forced to declare him dead, to his dismay.
As a child, he was the "child prodigy" of Mizrahi music, and also performed in the "Flowers of Jerusalem" band and at the "Ades" synagogue.
In recent years, he has returned to center stage and released new singles, and recently performed in France, Los Angeles, and New York.
In a few months he was expected to marry his daughter.
The accident occurred on Adoniha HaCohen Street in Jerusalem: After he finished dropping off passengers, the late Avishai got out of his vehicle to help unload items. At this point, the vehicle began to slide backward. The late Avishai noticed this and tried to stop the vehicle, but was crushed between the door and a nearby pillar.

Rescue forces called to the scene found him unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, and worked for many minutes to try to resuscitate him. He was taken to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, doctors were forced to pronounce him dead.
His tragic death left his family, friends, and fans in shock.
The Israel Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident and are examining how the vehicle began to deteriorate. Among other things, they are examining whether it was a technical malfunction or other circumstances that led to the disaster.
His funeral will take place tonight at midnight at the Sephardi Funeral Home in Har Hamenuchot.
