Yisrael Beytenu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman mocked his bloc partner, Democratic Party Chairman Yair Golan, last night (Monday), saying that he would not agree to sit in a government in which the far-left Democratic Party would receive the defense, public security, or justice portfolios.
""This is simply unacceptable," the Yisrael Beiteinu chairman stated. "I said very clearly: No, no.".
Lieberman was asked by Yair Balachovsky at the "Talking about Resurgence" conference in Ramat Hasharon why he was "complaining" about Golan and his statements - and he replied: "I would be happy to praise him, as long as he would keep quiet. This is his greatest contribution to our victory.".
He added: "There are enough agreements, a law limiting two terms for prime minister, the conscription law, a constitution. But every two days raising the issue of the Palestinian state or the evacuation of settlements is complete nonsense. It's just working in Netanyahu's favor.".
In response to Lieberman's remarks, Golan responded on the X network: "Yvette, it's time to stop serving Netanyahu's incitement campaign. Urich says the Democrats are illegitimate because he wants to erase seats from the Change Bloc and return Netanyahu to power.
""Instead of playing 'Urich said,' it's time to stop echoing his messages. We can fight now and give Netanyahu another term. And we can work as a bloc, win, and then argue in the government. We choose victory.".
In an interview with Knesset Channel, Lieberman continued his attack: "My problem with Yair Golan is that he literally works for the Likud's information headquarters. Instead of talking about the things that we all have in common, that we can all agree on - dozens of points like a state investigation committee, conscription, a two-term limit, he refers me to all the localities every two days - and we hit them on the head, including me. He is establishing a Palestinian state. This really plays into Netanyahu's hands.".
