A historic feeling was in the air at the conclusion of the 2016 academic year at the prestigious Torat Hashlichot kollel network - the melting pot in which the future generation of Chabad's army of emissaries grew.
The students, who studied diligently and with great dedication throughout the entire year, reached the climax last week: a final exam and an uplifting and magnificent graduation ceremony.
After successfully passing exams with the great rabbis, Rabbi Shimon Biton, Rabbi of Lod, and Rabbi Eliezer Brod, Rabbi of Carmi Yosef and member of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, the avrechims took a test that tested their mastery of the materials learned in the past year.
The test was conducted by members of the Chabad Rabbinical Court in the Holy Land: the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Hablin, rabbi of the city of Kiryat Gat and a member of the Chabad Rabbinical Court, the Gaon Rabbi Shneur Zalman Yaroslavsky, rabbi of the Chabad community in Elad and a member of the Chabad Rabbinical Court, together with the Gaon Rabbi Michael Shlomo Avishid, head of the network of kollelim.
The examining rabbis expressed their immense admiration for the level of comprehensive knowledge, depth, and proficiency that the avrechim demonstrated in all parts of the Shulchan Aruch that they studied - a critical element in their training as sluchim who serve as the address for halachic questions in their communities.
Closing ceremony: Words of congratulations and appreciation
Immediately after the exam, the official and impressive graduation ceremony was held. The event was graced by the presence of the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yehuda Yaroslavsky, head of the Chabad Rabbinical School, the Havlin Rabbis and the Yaroslavsky Rabbis, alongside the curriculum management and the heads of the kollels: the head of the kollel network, the Havlin Rabbi Avishid, the head of the kollel at the Beitar Illit branch - the Gaon Rabbi Reuven Shayovitz, and the head of the kollel at the Lod branch - the Gaon Rabbi Hillel Menachem Ges.
In addition, members of the Chabad Kollel and Torat Hashlichot management participated: Rabbi Mendi Blau, director of the Chabad Kollel in the Holy Land, and Rabbi Yitzhak Blau from the Torat Hashlichot management and director of the unique training program for going on shlichot in the kollel network.
The ceremony and impressive ceremony were masterfully conducted by the dedicated director of the Torah Shlomo network, Rabbi Chaim Brod.
During the ceremony, the rabbis delivered emotional congratulatory messages, emphasized the great responsibility placed on the young men's shoulders as they set out on their mission, and praised their wonderful diligence throughout the year.
In his remarks, Rabbi Mendi Blau, on behalf of the management of the Chabad Kollel, expressed the deep gratitude of the organization's directors and donors to the rabbis and spiritual staff. In his remarks, he praised and thanked from the bottom of his heart the director of the Chabad Kollel, Rabbi Shalom Duchman, and the living spirit behind the huge "Torah of the Mission" project from the Torah Shlomo Institute, Rabbi Yitzhak Mishan, who, thanks to their vision and support, is operating and growing magnificent fruits, and is placing the future Shluchim on a strong foundation of Halacha study.
Rabbi Blau shared with those present the intention to open another branch, with God's help, for the 2018 school year in the southern region, which will be added to the chain's new branch that opened in Elul this year in Tiberias, and to the existing and successful branches in Beitar Illit and Lod.
The highlight of the event was when the avrechim approached one by one to receive their prestigious certificates of certification, signed by the rabbinical dignitaries under whom they were examined.
The event concluded with a group photo of the avrechim, the network's management, and the rabbis, with wishes of "peaceful departure" and a blessing of great success ahead of the avrechim's imminent departure to the field of mission in Israel and throughout the world, to spread the springs of Torah and Hasidism and prepare the world to welcome our righteous Messiah.
