The 90-year-old Rabbi Yerachmiel Birnitzweig, rabbi of the Beit Midrash and head of the kollel named after the tzaddik Rabbi Mendel in Bnei Brak, collapsed this morning (Sunday) at his home in the city - and lost consciousness in front of the Ihud Hatzalah paramedics, who arrived due to his extreme weakness.
The volunteers immediately began performing strenuous CPR, which included massages and rescue breaths, and after some time of performing life-saving actions, by the grace of God his heart began to beat again and he was taken to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, under anesthesia and on a ventilator.
Rescuer Meir Cheshin says: "He suddenly collapsed while we were performing medical tests on him. I immediately began performing intensive CPR on him, which included massages and breathing, which, thank God, were successful. There is no greater satisfaction than saving a human life.".
They petitioned with a prayer for the complete recovery of the Gaon Rabbi Yerachmiel ben Tama Rika Tamara.
