Is there a peace agreement with them? An interview given by the extreme leftist, journalist Gideon Levy of Haaretz, to the Egyptian media figure and writer Ihab Qassem on the Egyptian television channel Al-Qahira and Al-Nas - sparked a public outcry in Egypt and led to steps against Qassem.
The Egyptian Journalists Association decided to ban the presenter from appearing in any media outlet and even investigate him for conducting the interview.
The channel itself went further and announced that it was removing the interview from all of its platforms. According to the channel, the decision was made as part of the channel's commitment to professional criteria and Egypt's national principles.
Levy is known for his extreme left-wing views and his critical stance towards Israeli policy. Egypt was outraged by his comments in the interview, when, among other things, he talked about his visits to Egypt and stated that the Israeli public does not see the Sinai Peninsula as land that belongs to Egypt, but as a coast that belongs to no one.
