60 years after the Lubavitcher Rebbe's call: A member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, Rabbi Yigal Cohen, head of the "Yabia Omer" institutions in Bnei Brak and one of the greatest people who bring Jews closer to Judaism, called on his students to increase the practice of putting on tefillin.
""I told my students," the rabbi said in a videotaped lesson, "there are people here who are not observant and who come here and pass by the Beit Midrash. If you don't come to him and tell him, 'Come put on tefillin,' tell me, how do you love God, the Blessed One?
""You see a person entering the Beit Midrash without a kippah, or with a folded kippah, and there is a very reasonable chance that he is not putting on tefillin today, what do you do about it?".
Rabbi Cohen added: "Your father is crying today up in heaven. My child did not put on tefillin today. How can you not go to him and say to him: Forgiveness for you, my soul, come put on tefillin, with love.".
