But the world accepted: The elder rabbinic leader of Aram Tsova, the Kabbalist Rabbi Rachamim Attiya, zt"l, one of the sages of the 'Nehar Shalom' yeshiva in Jerusalem, passed away today (Tuesday) at the age of 95 at the 'Shaarei Tzedek' Medical Center.

The deceased, zt"l, was born on the 22nd of Av, 1931, to his father, Rabbi Yitzhak Atiya, zt"l, and his mother, Mrs. Jamila, a.h., from Marem Tsova, Syria.

The late Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi served as a Torah reader in the Kabbalist Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi's seminary, and was his favorite student.

Over the years, he became the father-in-law of Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, zt"l, when his daughter married his son, the Rishi Shal"ts, the Rabbi Yosef.

He left behind a blessed generation of righteous people, 13 children and hundreds of descendants - among them his son, the eminent Rabbi Avraham Attiya, author of 'Pininy Beit Levi', and his daughter, the Rebbetzin, the wife of Rabbi Yosef.

The funeral procession will leave tonight at 7:30 PM from the Porat Yosef yeshiva plaza on Yosef Ben Matityahu Street in the Geula neighborhood and at 9:30 PM at Har Hamenuchot, where he will be buried.

Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri: "I received with great sadness the bitter news of the passing of the righteous Kabbalist Rabbi Rachamim Atiya, the elder of the rabbis of Aram Tsova, one of the remnants of a generation of Deah and the sages of the Kabbalist Yeshiva 'Nahar Shalom', father-in-law of the great Maor, Maran Rabbenu Ovadia Yosef, and father-in-law of the great Rabbi, Maran Rashal, the great Gaon, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, Shlita.".

""For decades, he was loved and respected by the sages and great men of Israel, the purifiers of knowledge in Jerusalem, humble as a hymn, an outstanding scholar and a true worshipper of God. We were privileged to be blessed by him and enjoy the light of his countenance, and we saw how our Master, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, praises him with great love.".

""On my behalf and on behalf of the entire Shas movement, I send condolences to the late Maran Rashal Shlita and his wife Rebbetzin Ruth Tahi', to his son the esteemed Rabbi Avraham Atiya, and to all members of the esteemed family. May his soul be wrapped in the bundle of life."
