Tonight (Tuesday), police from the Lev HaBira police station were called to a neighborhood in Jerusalem following a report of unusual noise.
When the police arrived at the scene, the suspects - 'aliens' studying in Israel, who were apparently in Gilofin - began to disrupt order, violently attacking the police and a medical staff member and throwing objects at them.
As a result of the violent attack, a police officer was injured and required medical treatment.
Additional police forces called to the scene took control of the incident, and two suspects - foreign residents - were arrested and taken for questioning.
Today, the suspects were brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for a hearing, where the court decided to release them under restrictive conditions. The police have filed an appeal against the decision against the main suspect in the assault on the police officer.
""The Israel Police views with great seriousness any attack on police officers and rescue workers who are carrying out their work for public safety. It is unthinkable that public servants would be attacked with violence while performing their duties, and we will act resolutely to arrest and bring the suspects to justice," the police say.
