The Election Committee for the Rabbinate of the Emmanuel Local Council, headed by retired member of the Grand Beit Din, Rabbi Yitzhak Zer, announced today (Monday), after the vote count, the unanimous election of Rabbi Yishai Eliyahu Haleli as Rabbi of the Emmanuel Local Council.
This appointment is part of the Ministry of Religious Services' policy to lead the way in permanent appointments of city rabbis in Israel, recognizing the importance of stable and permanent Torah leadership. This is a significant step for the residents of Emanuel.
Alongside the committee chairman, Rabbi Zer, its members were: Sderot City Rabbi Rabbi Twil, Moshe Rothstein, Ezra Gerashi, Yonit Gispan, committee secretary Zuri Porat, and Attorney Inbal Cohen, representative of the Legal Bureau.
Rabbi Yishai Eliyahu Halali, a resident of Emanuel, is a graduate of the 'Yakiri Yerushalayim' yeshiva and the 'Chazon Ovadia' high yeshiva, and is considered a student of the Rashal, the Rabbi Yosef.
He studied Halacha at the Avir Yaakov kollel in Emanuel.
He was ordained to the rabbinate by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and holds the qualification of a city rabbi. He serves as the supervisor of kashrut and marriage in Emanuel, as well as a rabbi and teacher of justice in the Sephardic community in Emanuel.
