The Ministry of Defense announced today (Tuesday) that in 2025, the all-time record in the State of Israel's defense exports was broken: the new record stands at $19.2 billion - over NIS 53 billion - an increase of approximately 301% compared to 2024.
Thus, defense exports completed a more than 2-fold jump in 5 years and a 4-fold jump in 10 years.
As part of the implementation of the reform initiated by the Ministry of Defense to increase defense exports, an all-time record was also recorded in the volume of GTG - government-to-government transactions: approximately $10 billion in 2025, which constitutes over half of the volume of transactions.
The Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (res.) Amir Baram, and the Head of the Defense Export Division, Brigadier General (res.) Yair Koles, submitted to Defense Minister Israel Katz the defense export report for 2025, a year during which the defense industries, with the assistance and guidance of the Ministry of Defense, signed hundreds of new contracts around the world.
Over half of the deals - 53%, are mega-deals worth at least $100 million each.
In 2025, missile, rocket and air defense systems continue to lead with over a quarter - 29% of the volume of deals. An impressive jump occurred in the field of observation systems and optronics with 22% of all deals compared to 6% the previous year.
Since October 7, including during the past year, the Ministry of Defense has been operating in an emergency mode, as have the defense industries that joined the war effort and moved to produce around the clock for the IDF, while continuing production for foreign customers.
The unprecedented operational achievements, including during Operation 'Am Kalavi' in Iran in June 2025, together with the operational experience gained by Israeli developments in all theaters of war, created great demand for Israeli technology, and indeed the year 2025 continued the upward trend in defense exports and crossed the $19 billion mark for the first time.
The Defense Ministry says: "The sharp jump in Israeli defense exports, with an emphasis on the record figure in GTG transactions, effectively expresses the realization of the Defense Ministry's strategy to increase Israeli defense exports, as a tool to ensure the IDF's force building in a challenging budgetary era, to influence foreign policy, to strengthen the defense industry, and to create additional budgetary sources for the defense budget.".
""Based on this understanding and against the backdrop of global changes and the characteristics of dynamic markets, the ministry initiated a reform in defense exports that includes opening new markets, expanding strategic partnerships with a number of countries, and significant easing of export policy. This is alongside focusing supervision on protecting the secrets and assets of the defense establishment.".
Significant export sectors: Missile, rocket and air defense systems (29%), observation and optronic systems (22%), manned aircraft and avionics (11%), radar and electronic warfare (11%), command, control, communication and computing systems (7%), vehicles and armored personnel carriers (2%), satellites and space systems (3%), intelligence, information and cyber systems (2%), ammunition and armaments (1%), firing and launching means (6%), unmanned aerial vehicles and drones (4%) and naval systems and platforms (2%).
Defense export data by geographical segmentation: Europe (36%), Asia and the Pacific (32%), MENA (15%), North America (13%), Latin America (2%), and Africa (2%).
Distribution of agreements by financial scope: Agreements over $100 million (53%), agreements between $100-50 million (13%), agreements between $50-10 million (19%), and agreements up to $10 million (15%).
