The Election Committee for the Holon City Rabbinate, headed by retired member of the Grand Beit Din, Rabbi Yaakov Zamir, announced at the end of the vote count the election of Rabbi Moshe Perzis as the Sephardic city rabbi of Holon.
Rabbi Perzis will serve alongside the city's Ashkenazi rabbi, Rabbi Yochanan Gur Aryeh, a member of the Chabad Chassidus' court of justice.
This is a significant step, coming after the retirement of Gra Yosef, who was forced to leave his position.
Alongside the chairman of the committee, Rabbi Zamir, its members were: Rabbi Shlomo Ben Ezra, Rabbi of the Mevaseret Zion Local Council, Chaim Zabarlo, Moran Israel, and Michal Shemesh.
Rabbi Moshe Frizes, born and residing in Holon, is a graduate of the 'Or David' Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, and holds the 'Ateret Chachamim' in Holon, where he studied the ways of halacha ruling under the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Rabbi.
Rabbi Frizes serves as the community rabbi in the H-370 and Kiryat Pinchas Ayalon neighborhoods in the city, and as a teacher of halachic law and provides halachic solutions to the residents of Holon.
He authored over 20 books on Halacha.
