Tragedy in the Williamsburg neighborhood: The late 9-year-old boy, Yoel Yakubovich, was killed this morning (Friday), when he was hit by a school bus at the intersection of Lorimer Street and Lee Avenue, while on his way to Haider.
Williamsburg Emergency Services were called to the scene and began CPR to save his life, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The child is the son of Rabbi Naftali Herzke Yaakovovich.
Workers from the organization 'Chesed Shel Emet' arrived at the scene and are working to ensure the 'dignity of the deceased' and assist the family in their difficult time.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation.
The intersection where the accident occurred is located near several schools. It was closed while authorities conducted the investigation.
His funeral is expected to take place at the Satmar funeral home in New Jersey.
