National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir took advantage of the Israel Police's Independence Day ceremony at the Police College in Beit Shemesh today (Thursday) to sharply attack Gali Baharav-Miara - against the backdrop of the hearing held yesterday in the High Court of Justice regarding a request to remove him from his position.
In his speech, Ben Gvir called the request for his removal "crazy.".
The minister's words were met with thunderous applause from the police officers and police officers present in the hall, in what was perceived as a public demonstration of support from the executive echelon of the minister.
Minister Ben Gvir said: "It's no secret that yesterday a hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the request of the Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister, a delusional and crazy request to dismiss me, to dismiss a minister in the State of Israel.
""A central part of the discussion was devoted to a question that greatly troubled the Legal Advisor to the Government, and I bring the quotes: 'The minister automatically backs the police,' 'The minister gives support to the police who shot the terrorists,' and another claim: 'The police feel very safe with Minister Ben Gvir.'.
""These are some of the allegations made there - and the truth is that every example moves me. They claimed there that I supported a Border Police soldier who shot at a stone-thrower who wanted to murder him, it's true, I supported him.".
""They claimed there that I supported police officers who wanted to arrest him and harm them and they shot, that's true, I supported them. They claimed there that I supported a police officer who shot at someone who threw fireworks at him to blind him, that's true, I supported them.
""They claimed there that I make sure to wrap the policemen, hug them, protect them, that I go to the field and check if they have eaten, that's true, I do that.
""And the Yomash sees all these things as a problem. I see them as the biggest advantage, that it's time for you to have a minister who will love you, embrace you, and support you.".
The minister emphasized: "Of course I do not encourage illegal activity, there are limits to the use of force. But I said and I say from every platform, a thousand terrorists who seek to harm you will die and not a hair on your head will fall.".
