The District Court this morning (Wednesday) allowed the publication of the name of the mohel Moshe Deri, a 66-year-old resident of Bnei Brak, suspected of causing the death by negligence of a baby who died after a circumcision - and is appealing to the public to locate additional victims who were harmed by his actions.
The police opened an investigation on March 31, after receiving a complaint from parents about the death of a baby.
Following the investigation, Deri was arrested about two weeks ago, following the death of a baby boy as a result of a medical complication discovered after a circumcision. It is suspected that he contracted a bacteria during the procedure, and after three weeks in which doctors fought for his life, he was pronounced dead.
Deri was questioned by the police, but the court decided to release him to house arrest - and another hearing will be held tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, two additional complaints were received on suspicion of negligent damage by the mohel.
""Anyone who was harmed by the suspect named Moshe Deri or knows anything about other cases in which the suspect was involved is asked to call 050-5065976 or send a WhatsApp message to the same number and come and file a complaint with the Ramat Gan-Bnei Brak police.".
More than two and a half years ago, Channel 13 aired an extensive investigation by Ariella Sternbach into Deri, who has served as a senior mohal for more than 40 years and has performed tens of thousands of births. The investigation revealed that parents who trusted him discovered that he caused irreversible damage time and time again. Deri concealed evidence, and despite a rabbinical prohibition, he continued to work.
