Opposition leader MK Yair Lapid sharply attacked Naftali Bennett and Gadi Eisenkot during a briefing for the chiefs of staff of his Yesh Atid party.

""We're tired of the camp going after us. Where's the opposition? Why are we the only ones who didn't flee? Bennett fled before the elections and he's not an MK, Eisenkot fled in the middle of the fight over the evasion law because he didn't get along with Gantz.".

Lapid, who in some polls is scratching the electoral threshold, referred to his campaign against the backdrop of the approaching elections, to the unifications - and chose to attack the two again: "This is the campaign, they will ask you about unifications, everyone wants to talk about it... My answer is that it's about me. I will handle the unifications. Unifications are not done in the media, but in closed rooms. The debate Naftali and Gadi are having on television about who will be number 1 and who will be number 2 is an ego game that really only does harm.".

He added: "The problem is that they don't trust each other. The solution is that they both trust me, they know that I won't screw them over because the really important thing is that there will be a government. Just like I did it in establishing the government of change, which even then no one believed was possible, I am doing preparatory work behind the scenes today and at the right moment the three of us will sit in my basement and I will close the union with them.".
