Residents of the Elazar settlement gathered this evening (Sunday) to vote on the question - whether to allow Arab workers to enter the settlement to work?
The head of the Gush Etzion Bloc Council, Yaron Rosenthal, sided with the workers' Knesset - the settlement committee passed the decision on the question to the residents of the settlement.
This evening, as mentioned, the vote was held, in which two-thirds of those entitled to vote took part. The final voting data reflects a clear and unequivocal decision:
Against the entry of Arab workers: 349 residents (about 67.41% of voters).
In favor of the entry of Arab workers: 169 residents (about 32.61% of voters).
The community committee welcomed the public response: "For us as a committee, Elazar's greatest achievement tonight is the impressive turnout. This is a source of pride for all of us; Elazar is home to people with opinions and principles, caring people who choose to take responsibility for the future of their community.".
