US President Donald Trump published a post on the social network Truth Social this morning (Thursday), presenting the ceasefire as a phase of armed supervision only. Trump made it clear that Iran must not have nuclear weapons, and wrote that the Strait of Hormuz should be fully opened.
According to him, all ships, aircraft, and military forces will remain near Iran until the implementation of the "real agreement" is completed, equipped with the ammunition and weapons required for the lethal destruction of the enemy.
He wrote: "All U.S. ships, aircraft, and military personnel, along with additional ammunition, weapons, and everything necessary and appropriate for the management and lethal destruction of an already significantly weakened enemy, will remain in place in and around Iran until the real agreement is fully implemented.".
He said, "If for some reason this does not happen - which is unlikely - then the 'shooting will begin' - bigger, better and more powerful than anything anyone has ever seen. This was agreed upon a long time ago, and despite all the false rhetoric, to the contrary - there will be no nuclear weapons, and the Strait of Hormuz will be open and safe. In the meantime, our great military is arming and preparing, and even resting, in actual anticipation of its next conquest. America is back!".
Iranian military spokesman General Mohammad Akhrami Nia commented on the ceasefire: "The Iranian military is alert and will remain fully prepared during the ceasefire. The Americans, especially Trump, have proven that they are completely unreliable, so our finger is on the trigger. We are waiting for orders from the leadership.".
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Middle Eastern officials are pessimistic about the success of the talks and expect renewed fighting.
